Özbakır was born in Adana in 1982. He graduated from the Cebrail Ötgün workshop of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Mersin University in 2005. In the same year, he won a merit award at the 66th State Painting and Sculpture Competition. In 2006, he received the first prize in the Second Painting Competition held in the name of the mayor in Ümraniye.
While examining the relationship between painting, photography and film, he pays special attention to the films of Ingmar Bergman. He turns the moments into works of art by reflecting the scenes he chooses from the movie, reflecting his own mood, conditions and concerns, in a way, by translating from the movie. He consciously participates in the modification or reproduction of reality through his work. The artist tries to make people experience pain and suffering with the themes of loneliness, introversion, lack of communication, lovelessness and division. The black and white faces in Özbakır’s paintings want us to touch them. The artist repeats from his own point of view what photography endlessly reproduces in his paintings, and finds new expression possibilities in the simplicity of expression. The artist, whose works take place in many group and personal exhibitions in the country and abroad, continues to work.
